The women's water polo team competed in the Princeton Invitational once again today and completed their third and fourth matches of the weekend. The Wildcats played in their second matchup of the year with Harvard and then against the No. 17 ranked Indiana.
Game 1 - Harvard 12, Villanova 3
The Crimson once again jumped out to an early lead over the Wildcats and 'Nova was never able to recover. Trailing by a score of 8-1 at the half and then being outscored 4-2 in the second half, the Wildcats weren't in striking distance to make a late play.
Mary Riley was the only 'Nova player to score in the first half. Scoring goals for the Wildcats in the second half were Sarina Shibata and Naomi Ng with one a piece.
With her goal Ng has now scored in four of the first five games of the season and has total seven goals on the season so far.
Game 2 - Indiana 20, Villanova 3
Naomi Ng once again scored bringing her streak to the first five of six games with a goal and her total is now at eight goals on the young season.
Unfortunately for the Wildcats, the defense couldn't quite match up with the No. 17 ranked Hoosiers as they allowed 20 goals, nine in the first half and 11 in the second.
Indiana scored six unanswered goals to start the game and that would be all that was needed on the day.
Other goal scorers for the Wildcats included Lizzie Newman and Sarina Shibata. Shibata scored in both matches in the second day of the Princeton Invitational.
The Wildcats will continue their season on Feb. 21-22 when come home and play at Villanova for the first time this season in the Villanova Invitational. They will be playing games against Mercy, Washington & Jefferson, Gannon and George Washington. 'Nova's first match is set to begin at 9 a.m.
