Ennis to Depart Villanova as Post-Graduate Transfer

April 2, 2015

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Dylan Ennis, who started all 36 games for Villanova during its 2014-15 season, will depart the Wildcats following commencement in May and complete his final season of eligibility at another university, it was announced today.

Ennis averaged 9.9 points and 3.7 rebounds per game for the Wildcats as they marched towards BIG EAST regular season and post-season tournament titles in 2015.

"Dylan has chosen to play his final season in another program," stated Villanova head coach Jay Wright. "We're proud that Dylan will graduate in May with a degree in Communications and appreciate all of his efforts throughout his career here."

Ennis came to Villanova in 2012 as a transfer from Rice University. After sitting out the 2012-13 campaign per NCAA rules, Ennis saw his first action as a Wildcats' player at the 2013 Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas, contributing 14 points to a victory over No. 2 Kansas in the semifinals of a tournament the Wildcats would win the following night. He would ultimately appear as a reserve in 30 games for a unit that finished with a 29-5 mark.

Prior to the start of '14-15, Ennis earned the nod as a starter in the void left by the graduation of James Bell. He led the Wildcats with 19 points in a season opening victory over Lehigh and scored in double figures 19 times over the course of the season. He was named Most Valuable Player at the Progressive Legends Classic in Brooklyn, N.Y. and was part of the all-BIG EAST Tournament team in March.

"Dylan is interested in finding a program that will allow him to play the role of a traditional point guard so he can be the primary ball-handler," stated Wright. "We support Dylan and thank him for all of his efforts as a student and athlete at Villanova."
