April 7, 2015 VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova seniors Darrun Hilliard and JayVaughn Pinkston will take their initial steps towards the next level when they compete at the 2015 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament from April 8-11.
Hilliard and Pinkston, who both took part in the Reese's NABC All-Star Game in Indianapolis last week, are among 64 senior athletes who will compete in front of talent evaluators at Churchland High School in Portsmouth, Virginia.
Hilliard is on the roster of Sales System, Ltd., in a lineup that also includes Xavier's Matt Stainbrook, Wichita State's Darius Carter, and Tyler Kalonski of Davidson.
Pinkston, meanwhile, is on the roster of Roger Brown Restaurant along with fellow BIG EAST product D'Angelo Harrison of St. John's and Le'Bryan Nash of Oklahoma State.
The two Villanova products will see their teams square off on Thursday night at 7 p.m. Semifinal action will take place on Friday evening with the title contest set for Saturday night at 8 p.m.
The Portsmouth Invitational began in 1953 and brings together some of the nation's top seniors as a showcase for scouts from the United States and around the globe. Among those who have played at Portsmouth in previous years are John Stockton, Scottie Pippen and former Marquette standout and current Chicago Bull Jimmy Butler.
