The Villanova men's soccer team has clinched a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament. Overall the Wildcats are 9-6-2 and 4-3-1 in conference play and still have one more regular season game before the Tournament opens up on Sunday, November 6th.
Thursday will be the final day of the regular season and Villanova will host Seton Hall for Senior Day. Kickoff is set for 3:00 pm and will be aired on the BIG EAST Digital Network. The field will be set Thursday evening after Marquette and DePaul and Creighton and Georgetown wrap up after an 8:00 pm start time.
Six teams will enter the BIG EAST Tournament, with the two highest seeds having quarter final byes. Providence is the only team that has a first round bye and will host a semi-final game. Butler and Xavier have also qualified for the conference tournament, meaning four of the six spots are filled. Georgetown, Creighton, and DePaul are battling for the final spots in postseason play.
Currently Providence is in first, Butler second, and Creighton, Villanova and Xavier are tied for third in the BIG EAST standings. DePaul, Georgetown, St. John's, Seton Hall, and Marquette make up the final five spots in the standings respectively.
The opening round will feature the three seed hosting the six and the four hosting the five. The semi-final round will take place on Thursday, November 10th with the highest seeds of the two games hosting. The final round will also be hosted by the highest seed and will take place on Sunday, November 13th. All times and locations are TBA.
