Wildcats drop match to No. 1 UConn under the lights

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.- Villanova field hockey played their second BIG EAST Conference home game on Friday under the lights. The Wildcats were downed by No. 1 UConn, 12-0

In the opening minutes of the first half the Wildcats earned their first penalty corner of the game but couldn't hit the net. It was all UConn for most of the first half as they saw the next 19 shots of the game. At the half, Villanova had nine saves as they trailed 6-0.

UConn continued to pressure the defense as the second half got underway. Jordyn Clipstone entered the fame for the wildcats and had seven saves in the half. Throughout the second, Lydia Sydnor and Abby Siana continued to press the Huskies defense but couldn't see a shot go past the goal. The Wildcats dropped the match, 12-0.

Up next for the Wildcats is a trip to Easton, Pa. for a nonconference match-up against Lafayette. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m. Also, Villanova will be joining forces with Lafayette on Sunday to raise awareness for Pancreatic Cancer.
