VILLANOVA, Pa. -

The Villanova women's tennis team (1-14) lost to the Richmond Spiders (6-10) for their home opener at the Villanova Tennis Complex, 4-0. The match only consisted of doubles play an three singles matches before Richmond clinched the match.

On a very cold and windy day on Villanova campus, the duo of Carina Burdick and Connor Brewer started off hot with a 6-2 win right of the first match. The Spiders tied the doubles point after a 7-5 win over Lindsey Evans and Victoria Martinez. With one doubles match remaining, Kaylan Rotman and Linley Busby put up a hard fight, but lost a close 6-4 match to give the Spiders the 1-0 lead.

Only three singles matches fully competed before the Spiders clinched the match. Linley Busby was the first to finish in the No. 5 spot with a 6-0, 6-2 loss. Connor Brewer finished next with a 6-3, 6-1 loss at the No. 6 spot. Lastly, Carina Burdick dropped her matches 6-3, 6-1. Lindsey Evans was winning at the time before play stopped. Kaylan Rotman and Alexandra Krogius also competed and did not finish their matches either since the Spiders had already won the match.

The Wildcats get right back out on the courts as they head to Maryland tomorrow (April 2^nd) to compete against Loyola. Matches are set for noon.
