Wildcats Travel to Georgetown for Saturday Afternoon Matchup

Facing Off: The Wildcats will play their second road game this Saturday when they travel to Washington D.C. to take on the Georgetown Hoyas. The game will be broadcasted on CBS Sports Network at 2:30 pm E.T.

Series History: Villanova holds the all-time record against the Hoyas 14-8 with the Wildcats picking up their last win just a season ago at home by a final of 16-4. Georgetown's last win came in 2015 at home by a final of 17-8.

Last Meeting: After being down 4-3 at the 11:18 mark of the second quarter, Villanova scored the final 13 goals to defeat the Hoyas 16-4. Jack Curran finished with seven points, he netted three goals and dished out four assists tying his then career high. Ten different Villanova players contributed on the offensive end while Luke Palmadesso went 15-for-20 from the faceoff dot and scooped up five ground balls. On the defensive end, Danny Sweeney caused two turnovers and had five ground balls while Dan Willis picked up the win in goal after having six saves in just under 40 minutes of action.

A Look at Villanova: The Wildcats saw their five game win streak come to an end on Sunday, April 9th when they dropped their first road game of the season to the No. 5 Denver Pioneers by a final of 16-11. Villanova is now 1-1 in conference play, picking up the W in overtime at home against the Marquette Golden Eagles by a final of 10-9.

Villanova's Offense: Christian Cuccinello has a team high 46 points on 25 goals and 21 assists, he has contributed more than one point in the last 10 games and set a new career high of 8 against Brown. Curran, a third year captain, has a team high 31 goals this season, he netted three against Denver and a career high five against Bucknell. Danny Seibel is the final piece of the Wildcats starting attack line, with 25 points on the season, Seibel's most important came in overtime against Maryland. He netted the game winner on a pass from Jake Froccaro to give the Wildcats their first win ever against the Terrapins. Jake Froccaro, who has played midfield this season has 35 points (25g,10a) while Devin McNamara who is also seeing action at midfielder this season has 20 points (10g,10a). John Kluh, Joey Froccaro, and Connor Kirst all have contributed double digit points thought the first 11 games.

Villanova's Defense: The starting back line consisting of Danny Sweeney, Patrick Kennedy, and Zachary Kryza have started the last eight games together. Sweeney the lone upperclassman in the backfield has 11 ground balls and seven caused turnovers on the season. Both Kennedy and Kryza are freshman and have developed into their starting roles. Testa, who will start in goal for the Wildcats is a sophomore who has seen just over 650 minutes of action in the last year and a half. He has an 11.92 goals against average and .428 save percentage. Facing off for the Wildcats has been Jake Froccaro, the senior is 65-for-126 (.516) on the season and has a team high 68 ground balls. Returning from injury, Luke Palmadesso, the Wildcats faceoff specialist, has only taken 15 faceoffs over the last two games.

A Look at Georgetown: The Hoyas enter Saturday's game with a 2-9 overall record and 0-3 in BIG EAST play. Georgetown has lost three games this season by one goal, including their conference opener against Marquette. They defeated Robert Morris and Hobart in back-to-back games to pick up their only wins of the season.

Georgetown's Offense: Attackman Daniel Bucaro leads the Hoya's attack line this season in points with 42, he has netted 30 goals and dished out 12 assists. He netted six goals against Towson and had six points in their game against Denver (3g, 3a). Peter Conley and Jake Carraway have been two other offensive threats for the Hoya's this season. Conley, a midfielder has scored 22 goals and assisted on 13 goals while Carraway has 22 points on 15 goals and seven assists. Fourteen other players have contributed at least one point this season, with Craig Berge, Austin McDonald, and Devon Lewis contributing double digit points.

Georgetown's Defense: Splitting time on the faceoff dot has been Peter Ragliaferri and Riley Mann. Combined, the two are 118-251 (.470) with 33 ground balls. Senior Michael Mayer, who transitioned into a long stick midfielder this season has a team high 42 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers, he is the only Hoya with double digit caused turnovers. In goal will be Nick Marrocco, who has played all but nine minutes in goal this season for the Hoyas. He enters Saturday's game with 11.52 goals against average and .486 save percentage.
