Women's Tennis Fall to DePaul in BIG EAST Quarterfinal

RESULTS

The Villanova women's tennis team (10-16) fell to the DePaul Blue Demons (15-7) in the BIG EAST Tennis Quarterfinals with a 4-0 loss. Villanova was the seventh seed and beat tenth seeded Providence to get to today and DePaul was the number two seed.

The Blue Demons took the doubles point to begin the match. At the No. 3 doubles spot, DePaul beat Carina Burdick and Connor Brewer, but Lindsey Evans and Victoria Martinez tied the doubles point with a 6-3 win. Unfortunately, the Wildcats were unable to take the doubles point as Kaylan Rotman and Linley Busby lost 6-4 at the No. 2 spot.

DePaul continued to power through their matches after they picked up three straight wins to clinch their victory. Lindsey Evans fell 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot, while Kaylan Rotman fell 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 3 spot. Lastly, Florence Abbot clinched the match for DePaul after defeating Linley Busby 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 5 singles spot. Victoria Martinez, Carina Burdick and Alexandra Krogius also competed in singles play, but did not finish their matches due to DePaul's victory.

The Villanova women's tennis team will play a consolation match April 29 at 4:00 p.m.
