Villanova senior midfielder Jake Froccaro (Sands Point, N.Y.) has been selected as a nominee for the 2017 Tewaaraton Award, given to the most outstanding player in collegiate lacrosse. Froccaro joins 24 other college lacrosse standouts on the official list of nominees release by The Tewaaraton Foundations on Friday, April 28th.
"This is a remarkable accomplishment for these student-athletes," said Jeffrey Harvey, Chairman of The Tewaaraton Foundation. "The Foundation and its board congratulates these talented players and their respective teams for being recognized by the Selection Committees as Tewaaraton Nominees."
Five men's and five women's finalists will be selected from these groups, announced on Thursday, May 11, and invited to the 17th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony on Thursday, June 1 in Washington, D.C.
During his senior season Froccaro has netted 29 goals and dished out 13 assists for 42 points. He served as the Wildcats primary faceoff taker for five games this season and is 69-for-132 (.523) from the X and has a team high 78 ground balls.
Froccaro and the Wildcats will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday April 29th when they travel to the Providence Friars for the final game of the regular season. Game time is set for 4 P.M. Next weekend Villanova will travel back to Rhode Island for the BIG EAST Tournament where they will take on the Friars again in the semifinals.
