Chicago, Ill. – After dropping the first game of the two-game road trip, Villanova fell just short to DePaul this afternoon 1-0.
DePaul got on the board in the first half off of a goal by Jade Eriksen-Russo. It was her first goal on the season and couldn't have come at a better time for the Blue Demons.
Villanova couldn't get much going in the first half and were out shot 12-2 and surrendered eight corners in the half.
The Wildcats outshot the Blue Demons in the second half, but did not record a shot on goal in either half.
Bri Austin led the team with four shots in 74 minutes of action.
Jasmine Ruiz recorded two shots, while
Daniela Nelson and
Chloe O'Neill each recorded one.
Villanova thought they tied the game in the 77
th minute on a corner kick, but it was waved off due to an offside call.
The regular season will wrap up with a home match against the Butler Bulldogs Thursday at 3:00 P.M. The game will be broadcasted on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
