Lydia Sydnor Named Student-Athlete of the Month Presented by The Rothman Institute

Villanova, Pa.- Villanova field hockey junior Lydia Sydnor was named by the Office of Academic Support as September's Student-Athlete of the Month, presented by Rothman Institute. Sydnor was selected for her accomplishments both in athletic competition and academically.

Sydnor is currently second on the team in points with 12.  This season the forward has scored five goals and dished out two assists.  Her biggest goal of the season came in overtime against Indiana where she netted the game winning goal.  This season she has also found the back of the net against Fairfield, Lehigh, Georgetown, and Monmouth.  For her two goal week against Georgetown and Monmouth Sydnor earned BIG EAST Weekly Honors. 

Sydnor is enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and is majoring in Communications.  She currently boasts a 3.873 grade point average and was named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team at the end of the 2017-18 academic year.

Villanova field hockey will take on the Quinnipiac Bobcats on Friday, October 5th at the Proving Grounds.  The BIG EAST contest will start at 4:00 P.M. and can be seen on Nova Nation All-Access.
