VILLANOVA, Pa. – On Friday, Nov. 2, the Villanova Wildcats were defeated by the Huskies in route to the BIG EAST Conference Championship. Sunday, Nov. 4 the UConn Huskies defeated the Liberty Flames in the finals. The same afternoon, the conference announced the All-Tournament Team members.
Junior
Abby Siana was among the 11 members named to the 2018 team. Siana netted in the lone goal for the Wildcats in their 9-1 loss to the Huskies, earning her a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
She ended the year with 7 goals and three assists for 17 points on the team, ranking her third on the team in goals and points, behind
Megan Vermeil and
Lydia Sydnor tied at first. The junior forward notched a BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week award and a Longstreth/NFHCA Honorable Mention honor.
Siana was also an enormous factor in her team's trip to the BIG EAST Semifinals. In the winner-take-all game against No. 25 Old Dominion, she scored the goal in regulation to send them into overtime and her goal was the decision maker in the penalty shootout to clinch the victory.
This year, Siana was also named honorable mention by Synapse Sports for the week of Oct. 29. Throughout the year,
Megan Vermeil and
Erika Miller were also among Synapse Sport's honorable mention honorees for their performances. Vermeil was honored for the week of Oct. 22 and Miller was honored during the week of Sept. 5.
