Wildcats Fall to China in exhibition match

PRINCETON, N.J.- The Villanova water polo team (0-3-0) fell to the Chinese national team in an exhibition match at the Princeton Invite 19-6 on Saturday. Junior Kate Stenmoen led the team the two goals.

The first quarter of the game began with China getting on an early 4-0 run with still three minutes remaining in the first quarter. Villanova would taste it's first goal of the game after freshman Camille Oswald scored a goal to make the score 4-1. China would add one more to close the quarter with the score 5-1.

China again would begin the quarter by going on another run this time being a 6-0 run to increase the China lead to 11-1. Villanova would close the quarter with no points.

In the third, senior Dominique Clark would score the teams second goal with seven minutes remaining left in the quarter to cut the lead to 11-2. But China would respond with three more goals before senior driver Sara Lynn Able, and Kate Stenmoen each tacked on a goal respectively to close the quarter trailed 16-5.

In the fourth the Wildcats would only be able to add more goal to the overall score which led to the final score being 19-6.

Villanova returns to its second and final day of play at the Princeton Invite tomorrow as the team faces host Princeton at 9:15 a.m. and Harvard at 1 p.m.
