Wildcats Notch Second BIG EAST Win Against Providence, 5-2

VILLANOVA, Pa.- Villanova (9-7, 2-1) hosted their first BIG EAST Conference match on Saturday morning as they hosted Providence. After sweeping singles and capturing four singles wins, the Wildcats edges the Friar, 5-2.

Lindsey Evans and Victoria Martinez competed in the No. 1 spot in doubles where they captured this first win for the Wildcats. Next, Lexi DeNucci and partner Kaylan Rotman won their match over the Friars in the No. 2 spot. Villanova captured the doubles point and the double sweep after receiving a win in the No. 3 spot from Claudia Althans and Paulina Bajet.

In singles, competing in the No. 2 spot was Althans who defeated Providence's Epstein. Evans continued her strong play in the No. 3 spot as she captured the victory for the Wildcats. Rotman and Martinez won their matches to help Villanova get the singles point and the match. The Wildcats would win the match, 5-2.

Next up the Wildcats will host Temple on Sunday Apr. 8. Action is set to begin at 12 p.m.
