VILLANOVA, Pa.- Villanova Field Hockey head coach Joanie Milhous announced the 2018 schedule on Wednesday afternoon. Entering her 24th season in the fall, Milhous and the Wildcats will face tough competition this coming season.
Villanova will start the season with four nonconference games starting at Fairfield on Aug. 26. The Stags are coming off of a 2017 MACC Conference Championship along with a stint in the NCAA Tournament. The squad will face their next three opponents at home beginning Labor Day weekend. On Aug. 31, Indiana comes to town along with Lehigh on Sept 2. The homestand will conclude with Philadelphia Big 5 rival Penn on Sept. 7.
They will also host Lafayette and Longwood this coming season as part of the nonconference slate. Villanova will travel to Monmouth, Rider, and Columbia as part of the nonconference slate for the Wildcats.
Upon competing at Sacred Heart on Sept 9, they will begin conference play at home. BIG EAST play is scheduled to start on Sept. 14 as the Wildcats will host Georgetown. Other BIG EAST home games include Liberty (Sept. 21), Quinnipiac (Oct. 5), and Temple (Oct. 19). Villanova will travel to BIG EAST Opponents Providence (Sept. 28), Connecticut (Oct. 12), and Old Dominion (Oct. 26).
The Wildcats will close out the season against non-conference opponent Brown on Oct. 28.
Liberty will host the 2018 BIG EAST Tournament this season. The top four teams in the conference will square off on the first weekend of November.
