VILLANOVA, Pa.- The Villanova softball team (27-20-2 overall, 10-5 BIG EAST) will be traveling Big East conference rival Creighton (24-14 overall, 9-3 BIG EAST) tomorrow as they will play in a doubleheader against the Blue Jays on Saturday followed by a series and regular season finale on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. On Sunday, the game can be watched on the Big East Digital Network which can be streamed through the Fox Sports Go App.
LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats are coming off a home doubleheader against Fairleigh Dickinson which they split the series by falling in the first game 8-2 while coming out victorious in the second game winning by a score of 9-1 in which the game ended in five innings. Sophomore Caroline Jones knocked a grand slam in the game to give the Wildcats a 7-0 lead in the bottom of the third. Villanova would score two more runs courtesy of an RBI single by junior Jordan Olivarez to give the Wildcats the 9-1 victory. Freshman Taylor Rhinehart pitched an outstanding game going five innings allowing nine hits and only one run.
SCOUTING THE BLUE JAYS
Creighton is currently 24-14 on the season. They are coming off a win against Georgetown on Apr. 29 winning by a score of 5-2. At the plate, the Blue Jays are led by Sam Crowley. She has played in 36 games this season and is batting .383 on the year with 41 hits, 28 RBI's and five homeruns. In the circle, Bryana Clark has started in 11 games this season while making 26 appearances overall. She currently has an ERA of 2.87 and has a record of 6-4.
TAKING A LOOK AT THE STATS
Senior Nikki Alden leads the team in batting average at .404. She has 57 hits, 21 runs, 2 triples and 27 RBIs on the season. In the circle, freshman Anissa Amarillas has the top ERA on the team at 3.25. She is 17-12 on the year and has struck out 80 batters.
