Head Coach
Chris McLain stated, "Siena is a very well coached team. They made it tough for us to breakdown. We threw everything we had at them and they just never quit. they are going to be a top team in their conference so we knew we were going to have our hands full."
Bri Austin had both goals for the Wildcats, and was also tied with
Natalie Fouque for the most shots in the game at six. Austin's first goal came in the 33
rd minute on a penalty kick. She buried the shot in the bottom left side of the net. Her game-winning goal came in the 93
rd minute on a through ball from
Niki Molina.
McLain said, "I thought
Bri Austin was fantastic. She was extremely dangerous all game long. We have asked our forwards to be dangerous in the final third and just be willing to take risks that could put our other players in scoring positions. Our forwards focused on that all week and they were able to produce some quality moments."
Kristin Barbour and
Tori Alfero played all 92 minutes in the game for the Wildcats. Their great defensive efforts kept Siena off the board after they scored their lone goal in the 4
th minute of the game.
McLain also added, "We are happy to be moving on to the Big East season. This non-conference schedule has challenged us in so many ways. We have grown up as a team and we are ready to start part 2 of this fall season."
The game Saturday against Providence will take place at 1:00 PM and will be televised on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
