Wildcats Travel to BIG EAST Rival Temple on Friday

Villanova (6-8, 1-4) is looking for its second conference win of the season when it travels to BIG EAST rival Temple (5-8, 1-4) on Friday in Philadelphia.

The Wildcats are coming off two back-to-back losses against No. 3 UConn and No. 24 Fairfield and are looking to snap that streak at 7 p.m. on Howarth Fied.

Scouting Temple

The Owls are on a three-game losing streak, dropping consecutive games road games against Lafayette, No. 19 Old Dominion and Towson.

The team's lone BIG EAST win of the season game on Oct. 11 in overtime at Georgetown.

Temple's Dani Batze leads the team with 5 goals this season in 12 starts.

She's followed in points on the team by Kerrie Lorenz who has two goals and three assists in 2019.

The team is led by first-year head coach Susan Ciufo.

Villanova has won the last three matchups against the Owls.

However, over the last seven seasons, Temple holds the edge with a 4-3 record over the Wildcats.

In last season's game, Megan Vermeil scored two goals, helping Villanova to a 3-1 victory.

Notable Statistics

Senior back Christen Pennington is tied for first on the Division 1 Active Career Leaderboard for Defensive Saves.

She has made 16 during her time as a Wildcat, including three this season.

The Langhorne, Pa., native is tied in the statistical category with two Owls, Batze and Becky Gerhart, and Quinnipiac's Ines Ruiz Martinez.

Villanova also leads the BIG EAST in defensive saves as a team.

The team has a combined six this season. (Pennington has 3, sophomore back Devyn Aschenbach has two and senior forward Lydia Sydnor has one)

Sydnor is tied for first in the league with goals with UConn's Svea Boker. She also leads the conference in goals per game (avg .92) and is second in points per game (avg. 2.21).
