Villanova, Pa.- Villanova women's soccer (5-4-2, 1-1 BIG EAST) lost their rainy Thursday afternoon match at home to the Georgetown Hoyas by a final of 2-0.
After a scoreless first half that saw Villanova goalkeeper
Rebecca Gartner make a save and
Allison Breed placed a shot on goal for the Wildcats, it was Georgetown who answered minutes into the second half.
The Hoyas got on the board in the 46
th minute when Jenna Royson kick the ball off the end line and to the closest post. There Amanda Carolan was there and able to flick the ball back into the middle of the box where Jenna Menta was. Menta got a strong shot off that found the back of the cage to give the Hoya's a 1-0 lead.Â
The second goal was on a successful penalty kick in the 80
th minute taken by Paula Germino-Watnick.Â
Villanova's best chances in the second half came on shots by
Brice McInroy. The sophomore got two strong shots off but Georgetown's keeper Anna Leat was able to save both.Â
Next the Wildcats will travel to Butler for a Sunday afternoon match scheduled to kick off at 1:00 P.M. in Indianapolis.Â
