No. 19 Villanova Heads to No. 6 Maryland for Saturday Afternoon Matchup

Facing Off:  No. 19 Villanova will travel to No. 6 Maryland to take on the Terrapins at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday afternoon.  The game can be seen on BTN Plus.

Matchup History:  Saturday will mark the 12th meeting all-time between the Terps and the Wildcats. The last time Villanova traveled to Maryland Stadium the Wildcats came out with their first ever win against the Terrapins.  Last season in Villanova Stadium the Wildcats tried to fight back late but fell by a final of 13-11.

A Look at Villanova: The Wildcats took part in the inaugural Philly 4 Lacrosse Classic last weekend and fell to both the Penn Quakers and Drexel Dragons to move to 3-3 on the season.  Earlier in the season Villanova defeated No. 1 Yale in the Bulldogs season opener in overtime.

Villanova's Offense: Junior midfielder Connor Kirst picked up 12 points last weekend in the Wildcats two games.  Kirst against Penn netted four goals and dished out three assists for a career high seven points and against Drexel scores five goals, as a career high.  The junior also netted both of Villanova's game winning OT goals against Yale and Hofstra.  Kirst along with freshman Matt Campbell both have 18 points on the season.  Campbell in back-to-back games netted six goals earning him BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week on February 25th and March 4th

Villanova's Defense:  SSDM TJ Comizio now ranks 5th all-time in career caused turnovers with 47.  Last weekend at Drexel the senior did it all on both ends of the field, causing five turnovers, scooping up four ground balls, and dishing out two assists.  Comizio on the season has a team high 25 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers on the season.  Freshman LSM Michael Ubriaco has been having a strong impact on the Wildcat's defense.  On the season he has eight ground balls and six caused turnovers over the first six games. Villanova defender Patrick Kennedy had a career high three caused turnovers at Drexel and on the season has nine total along with 11 ground balls.  

A Look at Maryland: The Terrapins are 6-1 and coming off a win at Albany last weekend.  Their only loss on the season came in overtime to Notre Dame in South Bend at the beginning of March.  Logan Wisnauskas and Jared Bernhardt are leading the Terrapin offense this season.  Wisnauskas has 36 points this season while Bernhardt has 35.  Danny Dolan has been Maryland's goalkeeper this season and has a .532 save percentage and 9.32 goals against average. FOG Austin Henningsen is 64-for-99 while Justin Shockey is 44-for-74 combined they have 44 ground balls over their first seven games.
