CLEVELAND, Ohio – On Thursday, Mar. 14 six members of the Villanova men's and women's swimming team traveled to the Robert F. Busbey Natatorium in Cleveland, Ohio to compete at the CSCAA National Invitational. The meet consisted of 57 schools and ran until Saturday, Mar. 16.

Abbey Berloco competed for the women's team. The Wildcat men were represented by freshman
Jesse Marsh and sophomore
JJ Strain.
The four women each competed in four relay events throughout the invitational. The events included the 200-freestyle relay (1:35.58), the 200-medley relay (1:47.61), 800-freestyle relay (7:41.85) and the 400-freestyle relay (3:28.32) which they placed 21
st overall.
Routledge competed individually in the 50-yard freestyle where she placed 12
th overall in the B-Final with a time of 23.27. She also competed in the 100 and 200-freestyle events. In the 200-free she placed eight after touching the wall in 1:49.28 and in the 100-free she clocked in at 51.46 to come in 20
th overall again placing her in the B-Final.
Butterfly and freestyle swimmer, Els swam in the 200-IM, 100-butterfly and 200-butterfly. With a time of 2:03.09 she placed 16
th overall for a finish in the B-Final.
Continuing her stint in the distance category, Welch competed in the 500, 1000 and 1650-freestyle events. She clocked in at 10:13.54 for an 11
th place finish in the 1000-freestyle and she placed 23
rd in the 500-free with her time of 17:18.76.
As a freshman freestyle swimmer, Berloco competed in the 100 and 200-freestyle events but did not make it past the preliminary round.
Jesse Marsh competed in three events as a freshman at the invitational but was unable to qualify for the final rounds in any event. In the prelims he swam in the 50, 100 and 200-butterfly events. He touched the wall in 23.12 in the 50-fly, recorded a time of 49.64 in the 100-fly and in the 200-fly he posted a time of 1:52.07.
JJ strain was the last of the men to compete for Villanova. The sophomore breaststroke swimmer clocked times in the 50-breaststroke and 100-breaststroke. His time of 26.33 landed him a 28
th place finish and his recorded time of 56.86 in the 100-breaststroke placed him at 31.
The women concluded the event in 33
rd place with 43 total points tied with Dartmouth.
