No. 14 Wildcats Head to Georgetown Sunday Afternoon

Facing Off: No. 14 Villanova will head to Washington, D.C. to take on the Georgetown Hoyas this Sunday, April 14th at 1:00 P.M.  The game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.

Matchup History:  This weekend will be the 26th meeting all-time between the Wildcats and Hoyas.  Last season Georgetown won both matchups in the regular season and the BIG EAST semifinal.  Villanova had won 15 of the previous games with their last win coming at Georgetown in 2017 by a final of 17-12.  

A Look at Villanova:  The Wildcats snapped the Denver Pioneers 27 game winning streak in BIG EAST play last week.  During the 12-11 victory Will Vitton had a career high 19 saves earning him both BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week.  Villanova is 2-0 in conference play, prior to last weekend's win, the Wildcats beat Marquette in the BIG EAST opener. 

Villanova's Offense:  Connor Kirst leads the Wildcats with 38 points on 23 goals and 15 assists.  Matt Campbell and Corey McManus has also netted 23 goals this season.  Sophomore Keegan Khan has a team high 20 assists, he has also scored 14 goals to have 34 points.  Eric Overbay is the fifth Wildcat with double digit points this season, he has netted seven goals and dished out eight assists. 

Villanova's Defense:  Vitton, who has now played over 471 minutes between the posts for the Wildcats has a .517 save percentage and 11.07 goals against average.  TJ Comizio currently ranks 4th all-time in career caused turnovers with 55.  This season the senior leads the team with 18 along with 48 ground balls.  Dan Fisher and Zack Ornstein have gone a combined 145-for-286 from the faceoff x with 54 ground balls. 

A Look at Georgetown:  The Hoyas are 8-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play entering Sunday's game.  Last weekend Georgetown picked up their first conference win at Providence by a final of 17-15 while in a midweek matchup at No. 2 Loyola the Hoyas fell 16-14.  Daniel Bucaro and Jake Carraway are the offensive leaders this season for Georgetown.  Bucaro, the senior attackman has scored 41 goals this season and has a team high 62 points while Carraway, a junior attack has 37 goals and 22 assists for 59 points.  FOG James Reily is 126-for-269 (.468) from the faceoff x with 54 ground balls.  Sophomore goalkeeper Owen McElroy has played over 648 minutes between the posts and has a .523 save percentage along with a 11.47 goals against average.
