VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Villanova women's lacrosse team will welcome No. 23 Georgetown on Saturday, Apr. 13 at 1 p.m. for a BIG EAST Conference contest. Villanova is currently second in the conference with an 8-5, 2-0 record and Georgetown is third in the BIG EAST with a 7-6, 1-1 record.
Saturday marks the 20
th all-time meeting between the Wildcats and Hoyas. The Hoyas have won the last nine contests dating back to the 2010 season. Villanova captured its three wins over Georgetown in 1991, 1992 and 1994.
The Wildcats
For the 13
th straight game,
Katie Comerford and
Ashley Lynch are leading Villanova in points and assists. Comerford sits at the top spot with 24 assists and 39 points while Lynch is right behind with 21 assists and 34 points.
Leading the pack in goals scored is
Liz Trojan,
Brittany Bruno and
Devin Hassinger. Trojan has scored 24 goals, Bruno 23 with 12 coming in the last three games, and Hassinger has found the net 22 times. Hassinger leads the team in two other categories this season as well. The red-shirt senior has recorded 94 draw controls and 23 ground balls. Her season total DC broke her 2018 season total of 81 and she also sits at first all-time in career draw controls with 189.
Defensively, five primary Wildcats have made up the back field.
Alexa Moro stands in the net as the starting goalie with a .458 save percentage and has recorded 110 saves on 309 shots faced.
Sydney Frank,
Julia Arrix,
Maggie O'Neill and
Kelsey Mentzer make up the rest of the defense for Villanova. Frank leads the team in caused turnover with 25 and Arrix, O'Neill and Mentzer have recorded 10 each. Together the group of five have collected a total of 99 ground balls out of the teams 241.
The Hoyas
Georgetown is heading into competition after coming off a midweek non-conference loss to No. 14 Navy. The Hoyas were defeated 16-9 by the Midshipmen on Wednesday and when the Wildcats faced Navy they were defeated 14-6.
Five individuals are currently making up the majority of Georgetown's points this season. Leading the team in goals is both Taylor Gebhardt and Morgan Ryan who have netted in 28 goals apiece. Right behind them is Francesca Whitehurst who has 24 goals and leads the team with 20 assists for a team high 44 points. Following close behind Whitehurst is Natalia Lynch and Michaela Bruno who have 22 and 18 goals respectively.
Alongside Whitehurst, Gebhardt and Emily Ehle have also helped set up fellow Hoyas at the net. Both women have assisted on 13 goals. Additionally, Ehle and Whitehursts lead Georgetown in draw controls with 47 and 41.
The team has caused 120 turnovers so far this season. Midfielder Lynch (18) and defenders Noelle Peragine (15), Katie Hudson (12), Megan Massimino (13) and Josephine Zinn (12) have been the main factors in the team's caused turnovers.
In the net, Haelle Chomo has been the starting goalie in all 13 of her team's contests. Chomo has recorded 78 saves on 253 shots faced and has a save percentage of .406. Micheline DiNardo has added relief in six games and has stopped 10 shots this season.

The postgame reception will include food stations and drinks, including beer, wine and soda. Cost to attend is $40 per person. Child price is $20 for ages 5-12.

The Villanova Women's Lacrosse Beer Garden will also be available during the contest. Beer and wine will be $5 until halftime.
