OMAHA, Neb. - The Villanova women's tennis team lost 4-3 against the Creighton Bluejays on Friday afternoon at the Hanscom Tennis Center. The Wildcats won the doubles point but the Bluejays took four of the six singles matches to clinch the match.
Creighton won on doubles court one defeating
Lindsey Evans and
Claudia Althans, 6-1. But the Wildcats bounced back and won on courts two and three to clinch the opening point.Â
On court two,
Lexi DeNucci and
Kaylan Rotman defeated Epperson and O'Connor, 7-6 (8-6). While on court three
Carina Burdick and
Olivia Kapp won 7-6 (7-1) over Embree and Henne.
The Bluejays won on singles court one and three to take a 2-1 lead.
Carina Burdick tied the match at 2-2 after winning 6-2, 6-4 on court five.
Creighton then won on court six and then court four to clinch the match for the Bluejays.
Reigning BIG EAST Female Tennis Athlete of the Week,
Claudia Althans won on court two, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) to give the Wildcats their third point.
Villanova will conclude their 2019 season tomorrow against the DePaul Blue Demons. The match will be played in Omaha, Nebraska with a start time of 3:00 p.m.Â
