CAYCE, S.C. - The No. 6 seed Villanova women's tennis team upset the No. 3 seed Marquette Golden Eagles 4-3 on Saturday afternoon at the BIG EAST Tournament. With the score tied at 3-3, Carina Burdick clinched the match on court five winning 6-4, 5-7, 6-4. 

The match was originally scheduled to be played yesterday but was postponed to today due to rain. The beginning of today's match delayed due to rain in the area. 

In doubles play, Lexi DeNucci and Kaylan Rotman won on court two 6-3. The Golden Eagles won court three 6-1. Villanova's duo of Claudia Althans and Lindsey Evans clinched the doubles point for the Wildcats by winning 7-5 on court one.

Villanova started off singles play winning the first two matches to give them a 3-0 lead. Claudia Althans won 6-0, 6-3 on court two and Kaylan Rotma won 7-5, 6-0 from court four.

Marquette rallied back by winning on courts six, one and three to tie the match up at 3-3.

Carina Burdick won a three set thriller 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 to complete the upset over the No. 3 Golden Eagles.

The Wildcats advance to the BIG EAST Semifinal and will face the DePaul Blue Demons tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
