Frank Tabbed Freshman of the Week; Hassinger Named to Weekly Honor Roll

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Tuesday, Apr. 23 – The BIG EAST Conference announced today the women's lacrosse weekly conference awards. No. 14 Denver, No. 24 Georgetown and Villanova shared the main honors while the Wildcats, Hoyas and Marquette Golden Eagles tabbed spots on the Weekly Honor Roll.

Freshman defender Sydney Frank earned her first honor of her career after being named Freshman of the Week. Frank came up big on defense in Villanova's win at Butler on Saturday. The rookie was credited with three caused turnovers and five ground balls as the Wildcats picked up their 10th win of the season and third in BIG EAST play. The Wildcats also beat Temple on Wednesday, with Frank tallying a ground ball and draw control in the 13-8 decision. The Wildcats outscored their opponents by a combined 30-13 margin last week, outshooting them 64-30, including 43-23 on goal.

Devin Hassinger, a red-shirt senior, earned her third Weekly Honor Roll award this season. The midfielder was pivotal in the Wildcats' wins at Temple and Butler last week, totaling a staggering 23 draw controls to go along with three ground balls and two goals. She racked up double-digit draws on both games, including 13 against the Bulldogs on Saturday. The win over Butler clinched the Wildcats' first BIG EAST Championship berth since 2015.

The two will join their team for their last regular season and BIG EAST contest of the season on Friday, Apr. 26 at 7 p.m. The Wildcats will welcome No. 14 Denver on senior day in the Villanova Stadium.
