CHERRY HILL, N.J. – The Villanova women's rowing team competed against twelve other schools at the Cooper Invitational on the Cooper River on a sunny Sunday morning.

The Wildcats previously competed on this river two weeks ago at the Cooper Sprints and the experience showed as every boat made the grand final.

Head coach Carissa Adams on the day, "I am really proud of the entire team. Our overall performance and competitive spirit on the race course today stayed true to our principle 'together we are even stronger.' We brought that to the regatta today and demonstrated overall program strength.

The V8 and 2V8 finished with similar times, which is good news for the Wildcats because it shows the depth they have. Going forward the Wildcats can try to find the right combination of eight athletes to find more top end speed to become even more competitive in the Varsity 8 races.

The V8 finished fourth in the grand final with a time of 7:07.97, ahead of conference rival Delaware and Duquesne.  

In the 2V8 the Wildcats came in second with a time of 7:06.19 and trailed Bucknell by 0.16 seconds.  Villanova finished ahead of Eastern Michigan and Delaware. 

The V4 had an exciting race in the grand final as the Wildcats came in fourth but trailed third and second by just two seconds.

The 3V8 and N8 both had notable finishes, coming in second and fourth in their grand final.

The 2V4 came in third finishing behind Marist and Delaware.

Villanova will return to action next Sunday April 14th at the George Mason Invitation on the Occoquan Reservoir in Fairfax Station, Virginia.
