PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. – The Villanova baseball team fell 6-1 in game two against the visiting Xavier Musketeers on Senior Day at Villanova Ballpark. Before the game the Wildcats recognized their eight seniors for their achievements on and off the baseball field.

Gordon Graceffo got the start for Villanova, pitching five innings, allowing six hits, one earned run while striking out five.

Pat O'Neill and Doug deMarrais each had a hit in the game.

In the bottom of the third with one out and runners on first and second, Chris Rotondo was hit by a pitch to load the bases. The next batter grounded out to the pitcher but was able to score Tyler Bruno to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.

Xavier in the top of the fifth had runners on first and second with two outs. Major then singled through the left side scoring the runner on second to tie the game at 1-1.

The Wildcats in the bottom half of the fifth had bases loaded with one out but were not able to score any of the runners.

In the top of the sixth, Xavier had the bases loaded with two outs. Grammes reached on a Wildcats' error to score the go ahead run 2-1. The next batter singled to center field scoring two more Musketeers to make it 4-1 Xavier.

With two outs and runner on first in the top of the seventh, Franzoni tripled to right center field scoring Altenberger to give the Musketeers a 5-1 advantage.

Xavier would score one more run in the top of the ninth and would go on to win 6-1.

The series will conclude tomorrow May 12th with first pitch at 12:00 p.m. This will be the final home game of the 2019 season for Villanova. The Wildcats will celebrate Mother's Day with the mothers of our graduating seniors throwing out the first pitch.
