Carrera Lucas Joins Field Hockey Coaching Staff

Field Hockey head coach Joanie Milhous announced the addition of Carrera Lucas to the coaching staff for the 2019 season. Lucas will be an assistant coach and will focus on working with the team's goalkeepers.

Lucas arrives at Villanova this season from the University of Virginia, where she was one of the team's primary goalkeepers during her five years with the team. She also served as the team's captain during her final season in 2018.

 During her career, she was selected to be part of the 2017 and 2018 VaSID All- State First Team, was named to the 2018 ACC All-Tournament Team and was awarded the Coaches Award for Excellence during the 2018-2019 season.

She also served as a student coach for Virginia during the spring semester of 2019, where she provided coaching guidance and assisted coaches in setting up and running all team practices and workouts.

Lucas is also
currently a member of the United States National Development Team. 

Lucas graduated from Virginia with a bachelor's degree in Media Studies and a master's degree in Higher Education. 

Milhous said on Lucas joining her staff, "I am thrilled to have Carrera join our staff and the Villanova Field Hockey Family. Her knowledge, enthusiasm and experience as a goalkeeper both at the collegiate level, and currently with the US National Development Team, will elevate all of our players. She is an excellent addition to our program and puts us in a great position to continue to compete at the highest level."
