Women’s Soccer Falls to Oregon State in Overtime

Box Score Corvallis, Oregon- The Villanova Wildcats fell in the second overtime to the Oregon State Beavers, 2-1, in the first meeting between the two teams.

Villanova graduate student Sam Rosette scored her first goal as a Wildcat on a pass from Chloe O'Neill in the 32nd minute to push Villanova up 1-0.  Hensley Hancuff started in goal and played just over 41 minutes and registered two saves; Rebecca Gartner came in and played the final 58 minutes of action. 

The Wildcats kept their lead until the 86th minute when Marley Salveter passed the ball to McKenzie Weinert who scored the equalizer.  Gartner made two saves in the final minutes of regulation to force overtime.  Gartner did the same in the first overtime making an early save and forced a second overtime.

It was in the opening seconds of the second overtime when Weinert again found the back of the net on an unassisted goal to make the final 2-1 in the 101st minute. 

Next, Villanova will take on the Oregon Ducks on Sunday, September 1st at 8:00 P.M. ET in Eugene.
