Villanova, Pa.- The Villanova Wildcats (3-3-1) fell to No. 6 Florida State on Sunday afternoon at Higgins Soccer Complex.
Florida State led 2-0 at halftime following early goals, the first came in the 7
th minute on a successful penalty kick by Abbey Newton and the next in the 22
nd when Jenna Nighswonger got a through ball to Yujie Zhao who got a shot off from just inside the box. The Seminoles extended their led in the second stanza off goal from Deyna Castellanos (53
rd minute), Zhao (62
nd minute), and Malia Berkely (74
th minute).
Connor Huggins had a strong header on goal for the Wildcats in the 58
th minute off a corner that was kicked in by
Kristin Barbour. Barbour placed the ball of the far side of the goal and Huggins was there for the header in traffic, but Seminoles keeper Brooke Bollinger was able to punch the ball away. Sophomore
Allison Breed had the other Wildcats shot on goal opportunity in the 26
th minute.Â
Hensley Hancuff finished with eight saves, tying the sophomores career high for the third time.Â
Niki Molina and
Daniela Nelson had the other three shot for the Wildcats during Sunday's game.
The Wildcats will travel to New Jersey to take on the Princeton Tigers Thursday at 7:00 P.M.
