The Villanova Men's Tennis team hosted the 9
th annual Villanova Invitational this weekend, winning all but two of its 12 matchups in the three day tournament.
In round one of the White Draw Match, the double partners of seniors
Dylan Flanagan and
Tommy Mulflur defeated Loyola's Benny Glezer and Kyle Glower. In the singles portion of that matchup, both Flanagan and Mulflur defeated their respective opponents and went 3-0 in the match.
In round one of the Blue Draw, Villanova went 3-0, with
Matthew Jones and senior
Stefan Suarez defeating their Rider opponents both in the doubles and singles portion of the matchup.
In the White Draw in round 2, senior
Tyler Roth and freshman
Alex Kim went 2-1, defeating Saint Josephs in doubles. The only loss of the matchup was Roth to SJU's Nickolas Frisk in singles play.
The Wildcats pairing of Mulflur and Flanagan went 2-1 against Colgate, with only Flanagan dropping his singles set against the Raiders. The pairing of Daniel Cheng and
Justin Suarez also went 2-1 against the Raiders in round 2, dropping their doubles set 6-4.
The pairing of
Stefan Suarez and
Matthew Jones defeated Colgate 3-0 in its double set and two singles matchups.
The first loss of the Invitational for Villanova came when
Stefan Suarez and Jones were defeated 2-1 by Lehigh in the Blue Draw.
The Wildcats only other loss came in the final round of the White Draw where Kim and Roth were swept 3-0 by Case.
The pairing of both
Justin Suarez and Cheng as well as
Stefan Suarez and Jones went 2-1 against Lehigh in the Blue Draw.
In the final matchup of the Invitational for Nova, Klumb and
Daniel Martinez swept Loyola 3-0 in both singles and doubles play.
Looking forward, the Wildcats travel to Saint Joseph's University on Friday for the three day Saint Joseph's Invitational.
