Villanova Falls to No. 13 Liberty in Lynchburg

Box Score Villanova (3-4, 0-2) dropped its third game in a row on Friday afternoon, falling to No. 13 Liberty 5-0.
 
The Wildcats went down 2-0 after two early goals in the first quarter, with Liberty's forward Daniella Rhodes and defender Ashley Dykema both scoring.
 
Late in the first quarter, sophomore goalie Jordan McGinley made a big save to prevent Liberty from scoring off its second penalty corner of the game.
 
In the seventh minute of the second quarter, Flame forward Alivia Klopp gave the Flames a three goal advantage.
 
Villanova went into halftime down three.
 
With no time left on the clock at the end of the third quarter, Liberty's Rhode took an un-timed shot that made it to the back of the net, putting them up by 4 goals.
 
With less than two minutes left in the game, Liberty scored for a fifth time.
 
The Wildcats finished the game with a combined 11 saves from its two goalkeepers, Jordan McGinley and Claire Borman, and 2 shots, 1 on goal.
 
Looking forward, Villanova will face its second road test in a row on Sunday when the team travels to Penn State (0-7).
