In the first two quarters, the Nittany Lions out-shot Villanova 22 to 3, and had 14 shots on goal.
Penn State also had 11 penalty corners compared to 3 from the Wildcats.
In the opening three minutes of the third quarter, Villanova earned three penalty corners.

Christen Pennington scored an unassisted goal off the third corner, cutting Penn State's lead to 2.
The Nittany Lions scored two more times in the third quarter, leading 6-2 going into the fourth.
Penn State scored twice more in the last 15 minutes of the game, finishing the game with 8 goals.
The Wildcats will return home for the next two games, first hosting Providence College on Oct. 4 and then Bucknell University on Oct. 6.
