PRINCETON, New Jersey - On Sunday afternoon, Villanova (4-1, 1-0) defeated Towson (2-7) 6-1 on the road at Princeton University.
The Wildcats started the match off by winning the doubles point, with junior Claudia Althans and sophomore Lindsay Zimmermann winning the No. 1 doubles set 6-1 and junior Lexi DeNucci and senior Kaylan Rotman defeating the Tigers 6-4 in the No. 2 spot.
Four Wildcats defeated their opponents in straight sets in singles, including No. 1 Zimmerman, No. 2 Althans, No. 3 DeNucci and No. 6 freshman Caitlin Fisher.
Rotman won her No. 4 singles match, coming back from a 2-4 loss in the first set to win 6-3, 10-7.
This is the best start to a Spring season for the Wildcats in more than 22 years.
