Villanova tops Eastern Michigan 4-1

Port Charlotte, Fla. – Another quality start from Gordon Graceffo and a more potent offense today helped Villanova get back in the win column with a 4-1 win over Eastern Michigan in Port Charlotte.

Graceffo turned in his second consecutive quality start of the year and moved to 3-0 this season. He posted a final line of 7.2 IP, 8 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K to earn the win.

Tyler Arella came in to finish the game and went 1.1 inning to pick up the save.

Villanova's offense got going early, as Lucas Latrenta continued to deliver with runners on and notched his sixth RBI this year with an RBI single in the first.

In the second, Jeff Manto went deep to right for his first career home run. An RBI single from Pat O'Neill added one more in the frame to give Villanova a 3-0 lead.

The Wildcats added one more for good measure in the fifth on a Dylan McNary sac fly to plate O'Neill.

The four-run cushion was plenty for Graceffo, who rolled right through the first seven innings. After allowing an RBI double in the eighth and putting runners on second and third, Arella was called on for the lefty-lefty match-up and induced the groundout to second to end the threat.

Villanova pulled back to .500 at 4-4 on the season with the win ahead of tomorrow's matchup with St. Louis at 1:00 p.m.
