GILBERT, Ariz. – Two of Villanova's student-athletes, freshmen
Shannon Drakeley and Caitlin Van Goeverden, were named Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I Scholars of Distinction, the NFHCA announced on Monday morning.
The Division I Scholars of Distinction program recognizes student-athletes who have earned a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2019-20 academic year.
Out of the whole country, only 167 student-athletes were recognized as Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I Scholars of Distinction this year.
This is the first time since Lauren Callahan in 2016 that Villanova has had a student-athlete selected as a Scholar of Distinction.
