CLEMSON, S.C.—Sophomore middle distance runner Brynne Sumner (Canton, Ga.) was in competition for Villanova at the Clemson Invitational on Saturday afternoon where she competed in the 800 meters. Sumner is the Wildcats first track & field athlete to compete during the 2020-21 academic seasons as the program navigates its return to competition amidst the COVID pandemic.
 
Competing in a race that featured both collegiate and professional runners, Sumner came in fourth in a field of 16 competitors with a time of 2:09.93. She took a steady and measured approach through the first half of the race before steadily moving up into the middle of the pack during her second two laps around the track at the Clemson Indoor Track & Field Complex.
