Chicago, Ill.- Villanova women's soccer fell on the road at DePaul on Sunday afternoon by a final of 3-2. The Wildcats had a strong second half, netting both their goals during the final 45 minutes and keeping DePaul scoreless all while being a player down for the final 18 minutes.
The Blue Demon's Morgan Turner netted all three goals for them on Sunday. She scored the opening goal in the 10
th minute, her second came in the 25
th, and her final in the 31
st gave DePaul a 3-0 lead at halftime. Villanova's only shot in the first half came from
Megan Donnelly and it was wide.
Niki Molina got the Wildcats on the board in the 53
rd minute. The play started when
Brice McInroy sent a pass to
Chloe O'Neill who was at the top of the box. From there O'Neill sent a cross pass to Molina who got her shot to cross and fall into the lower right side of the goal to make it 3-1. In the 72
nd minute
Molly Keiper received her second yellow card of the game and Villanova had to play a player down for the final 18 minutes.
Villanova's offense was still able to click and scored in the 80
th minute when Laruen Ashman sent a long pass into the box that found
Lauren Belcuore. The rookie was able to get her shot to fall into the lower left part of the goal to make it 3-2.
Reagan Smith got the final shot of the game in the 88
th minute that was blocked which made the final 3-2 DePaul.
Megan McClay finished with five saves on the day and the Wildcats scored on both shots they placed on goal.
Villanova will return home to host the Providence Friars on Thursday, October 7
th. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 P.M. at Higgins Soccer Complex.
