WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.—Redshirt freshman distance runner
Sean Dolan (Pennington, N.J.) is 2-for-2 in recording personal best times during the 2021 indoor track & field season. His latest effort came on Saturday afternoon at the Camel City Invitational where he registered a time of 4:01.57 in the Elite section of the Mile at the JDL Fast Track.
Dolan placed fifth in a field of 12 runners and was the top collegiate finisher in a race that featured both collegiate and professional entries. He lowered his previous PR of 4:05.01 which was recorded in high school by nearly 3.5 seconds in the race. His time recorded on Saturday is the equivalent of a sub-four minute mile when converted from the flat surface at the JDL Fast Track to a banked track equivalent. Dolan opened his indoor season earlier this month when he registered a personal best time of 2:24.40 in the 1000 meters in a dual meet against Army West Point.
Also in action on Saturday afternoon was
Casey Comber (Maple Glen, Pa.), who competed as an unattached runner in the 3000 meters. He came in third in the Elite section of the event and registered a time of 7:52.89 in a remarkably fast race. In addition to lowering his own previous personal best by more than 10 seconds, Comber notched the fifth-fastest time in the 3000 meters by a Villanova runner while they were still in school. He is the 11
th runner from the Wildcats to break eight minutes while an active member of the team. Comber's previous personal best in the 3000 meters was 8:03.24 at the Columbia Challenge on January 27, 2018.
