Fifth-year senior ran against collegiate and professional runners at Camel City Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.—Fifth-year senior McKenna Keegan (West Grove, Pa.) began her 2021 season on Saturday afternoon by posting a time of 2:07.67 in the 800 meters. Keegan competed in the Elite section of the event at the Camel City Invitational and tallied a fourth place finish in a field of nine collegiate and professional runners.

Saturday's race was the first in which Keegan wore the Villanova singlet on the track since the end of the 2019 indoor season. The middle distance star for the Wildcats redshirted the 2019 outdoor campaign and ran unattached during the 2020 indoor season to sync up her remaining indoor and outdoor eligibility, only to see the 2020 outdoor schedule wiped out by the COVID pandemic.

Keegan did run for Villanova during the 2019 cross country season and was a member of the team's lineup for all three postseason races at the BIG EAST Championships, the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional and the NCAA Championships. She is a three-time All-American, a four-time BIG EAST champion, an eight-time All-BIG EAST performer and a four-time Penn Relays champion spanning the cross country, indoor and outdoor seasons during her collegiate career.
