Claire Borman Earns BIG EAST Honor Roll Nod

Sophomore goalie had 18 saves in two contests at Liberty this past weekend

NEW YORK—Sophomore goalkeeper Claire Borman (West Chester, Pa.) was named to the weekly BIG EAST Honor Roll in an announcement made by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Borman started each of the Wildcats first two contests of the season at Liberty this past weekend and had two strong games while playing a total of 90 minutes in the cage.

The first game of the weekend on Saturday afternoon saw Borman make a career-high 11 saves. She eclipsed the previous total of eight which she had recorded twice last season against Bucknell and Connecticut. In the weekend finale on Sunday, Borman had seven more saves in the first half before Villanova split its personnel for the day with junior Jordan McGinley entering to play the second half.

Borman totaled 18 saves while allowing 11 goals and facing a total of 42 shots in the two games. She tallied a .621 save percentage for the weekend. Borman and McGinley combined for a total of 13 saves in Sunday's contest which represented the highest single-game total for the Wildcats since the team had 17 saves against Old Dominion on October 20, 2017.

The selection to this week's BIG EAST Honor Roll is the first weekly recognition of Borman's career. The second-year goalie appeared in 11 games as a freshman last year and went 4-4 in goal while making 39 saves and posting a .600 save percentage.

Villanova returns to action this week with a two-game weekend set at Old Dominion. Game times are scheduled for 12 p.m. on Friday and 4 p.m. on Saturday.
