New York, N.Y.- Villanova freshman attack Kayla Gulmi was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Monday afternoon as announced by the conference office.

Gulmi totaled four points off a goal and three assists last week for the Wildcats, including a three-point performance against Hofstra on Saturday. The rookie's assist on Wednesday against La Salle came on Brittany Bruno's game-tying goal with 1:58 to play. Bruno went on to score the game winner with seven seconds left. Gulmi's three assists last week tied for the BIG EAST lead.

Villanova will travel to Washington, D.C. to take on the Georgetown Hoyas in their BIG EAST opening weekend on March 19^th and 21^st.
