Queens, N.Y.- The Villanova Wildcats and St. John's Red Storm were scoreless through regulation and went into overtime, but the Red Storm were able to net the golden goal in the 100
th minute to win 1-0.
It was St.-Jean Frederique who netted the game winner on a rebound off a Zsani Kajan free kick that was saved by Villanova keeper
Megan McClay. McClay played all 100 minutes in goal for the Wildcats and tied her career best in saves with eight.
In the first half
Lauren Ashman placed a shot to the bottom center of the goal but it was saved by the Red Storm keeper. In the second half
Jane Olcott got a shot off that was saved and
Emma Weaver also gave the Wildcats two on goal shots in the half that were also saved.Â
Villanova will retune home to host the UConn Huskies. Kick off at Higgins Soccer Complex is scheduled for 1:00 P.M. on Sunday.
