VILLANOVA, Pa.—In its final home match of the season Villanova (5-3) swept the doubles matches and tallied wins in the third through sixth spots in the singles lineup to come away with a 5-2 win over Georgetown (0-1) at the Villanova Tennis Complex on Saturday afternoon. Senior
Lexi DeNucci (Glastonbury, Conn.) was a winner at No. 1 doubles and No. 3 singles to help the Wildcats tally the win.

Annalise Klopfer (Palm Harbor, Fla.) rolled to a 6-1 win over Avantika Willy and Morgan Coburn in the No. 1 doubles match while senior
Claudia Althans (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) and junior
Sabina Grigorian (Atlanta, Ga.) posted a 6-4 win over Brooke Murphy and Chloe Bendetti in the No. 2 spot. The third doubles match was not played and the duo of sophomore
Caitlin Fisher (Cincinnati, Ohio) and freshman
Rose Kenny (Charlotte, N.C.) were awarded a win by default.
The individual winners in singles action were DeNucci, Fisher and freshman
Bella Steffen (Cary, N.C.) in addition to a default win for Kenny in the sixth spot in the lineup. Each of the wins came in straight sets, with DeNucci earning a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Coburn in the third singles match. Fisher held off Carmen Aizpurua for a 6-3, 7-6 decision in the No. 4 spot and Steffen powered past Murphy for a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles.
Georgetown recorded points in close matches in the top two spots of the singles lineup. Althans went to a third set in the No. 2 match against Bendetti before falling 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 and Klopfer was defeated by set scores of 6-1 and 7-5 in the No. 1 singles match.
One match remains on the Wildcats schedule before the team prepares for the BIG EAST Championships later next week. Villanova will first travel to Seton Hall for a 2 p.m. match on Sunday afternoon.
