JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—The top six marks in the discus in school history all now belong to graduate student
Grayce French (Ridgeland, S.C.) after she threw for 50.73 meters at the UNF Invite on Thursday afternoon. The mark is the second-longest both this season and in French's career, trailing only the school record and personal best throw of 50.90 meters she unleashed at the Philadelphia Big 5 Meet earlier this month.
French is the Villanova record holder in both the shot put and the discus. Her school record of 50.90 meters in the discus took on extra significance earlier this week when it was announced that the field size for the NCAA regional meets in May will return to their standard size of 48 declared athletes per event rather than the initial plan for 32 athletes per event for this season only. French enters the weekend ranked 41
st on the East region qualifying list in the discus.
