Cousins Adds Experience to Wildcats' Defense

Transfer arrives from Florida International University

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Villanova today added another talented newcomer to its roster ahead of the 2021 fall campaign as it officially introduced Anthony "A.J." Cousins, Jr., a transfer from Florida International University and a former member of Philadelphia Union Academy.

Cousins Jr., appeared in nine games for FIU in 2020, contributing two assists.

Head Coach Tom Carlin: "A.J. is a legit left outside back. We got to know him very well when he was playing with the Philadelphia Union Academy and are very excited to add him to our 2021 team after a solid career at FIU. A.J. is a tough 1 v 1 defender, has a great left -footed service and can cover a lot of ground on the left flank.

"A.J. brings collegiate experience to our team and will be an immediate impact leader in our program."

The Wildcats begin training ahead of the 2021 regular season this month ahead of the August 26 regular season opener against Rider at the Higgins Soccer Complex (4 p.m./Nova Nation All-Access).
