Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Wildcats Down St. John’s 1-0

Villanova, Pa.- A goal in the 55th minute helped propel Villanova to a 1-0 victory over St. John's Sunday afternoon in the rain at Higgins Soccer Complex.

Brigid Molloy scored the game's decisive goal off a free kick that was played in my Emma Weaver and went off the head of Alexa Wojnovich at 54:49 to the Wildcats into the lead.

The rain came down strong in the opening half causing a lot of back and forth play between the two teams and only one shot taken by Villanova's Megan Donnelly that went wide.

The second half saw more offense on both sides, with the Wildcats taking three shots and placing all on frame while St. John's took fives shots and got two on goal.   The Red Storm got off three shots in the minutes following the Wildcats goal, two were saved by Megan McClay.  St. John's best scoring chance came in the 74th minute when Jailene DeJesus sent a shot right on goal that hit the crossbar, making the final 1-0 Villanova.

The Wildcats will now hit the road and face Butler on Thursday, October 6th.  Kickoff in Indianapolis is set for 7:00 P.M.
