Men’s Tennis Falls to Monmouth, 7-0

LITTLE SILVER, N.J.—Villanova wrapped up a busy weekend with a 7-0 loss to an undefeated Monmouth (5-0) squad at the Little Silver Tennis Club on Sunday afternoon. Despite the outcome the Wildcats played several close matches in both singles and doubles on the day.

Two other Villanova players also won five games in at least one of their sets. Junior Alex Kim (Cary, N.C.) fell to Lucca Silva at No. 5 singles by set scores of 7-5 and 6-0, while sophomore Ryan Nguyen (Oakton, Va.) was defeated (6-2, 7-5) in the sixth spot.

In doubles action, the Wildcats won five games in both the No. 2 and No. 3 matches. Sophomore Anthony Prokurat (Manalapan, N.J.) and freshman Trey Fourticq (Los Angeles, Calif.) were defeated in the No. 2 doubles match by Silva and Diego Laporta, while Kim and junior Justin Suarez (Manila, Philippines) lost a 7-5 decision to Arthur Dussaubat and Cristof Zeller at No. 3 doubles.
