Field Hockey Earns 2021 Division I National Academic Team Award

The NFHCA announced 79 Division I programs earned this honor

BROCKPORT, N.Y. — The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is proud to announce that 79 Division I programs have earned the 2021 NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award.

The NFHCA National Academic Team Award recognizes programs that earned a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester of the current academic year.

Fairfield University posted the highest team GPA with a mark of 3.79. Stanford University came in second — for the second-consecutive year — with a team-average 3.77.

With this years nomination, it will mark 14 consecutive seasons that Villanova has garnered the award, first earning it in 2008. Under head coach Joanie Milhous, it will mark the 16th time, since 2003, that Villanova has earned this national academic award.

This will be Villanova's third academic award from the NFHCA this season, after 17 Wildcats were named to the 2021 NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad, with four earning Division I Scholars of Distinction.
